April Fools’ Day is a most infuriating day.

It’s the one day of the year when people seem to actually fact check and exercise care with what they endorse, like or retweet.

It’s also the day the U.S. Open decided to fool its entire Twitter following with an April Fools’ Day prank of its own. It didn’t go over well. You see, this prank involved puppies. (A word to the wise: Don’t f*ck with people and their puppies. Ever.)

The announcement was cute and simple enough:

BREAKING: The US Open to add puppies to the ballperson team at the 2019 tournament for the first time. All breeds welcome.

People actually began submitting pictures of their dogs for consideration. And prepping their resumes.

But soon people became upset by the announcement—don’t toy with us!

Don’t be this way, U.S. Open. Some of us are dying to see this become a reality.

In the meantime, maybe you ought to get your dog in training with its own automatic ball throwing machine!
