If you’re a fan of Netflix’s original series Orange is the New Black, you’ve probably been waiting all year long to see what was going to happen to your girls over at Litchfield.
Season 5 left a lot of fans on the edge of their seats to see where the inmates were going absolutely insane in a 72-hour long prison riot following the death of Poussey. After the riots got way too out of hand, CERT officers invaded the prison and began dividing the inmates to send them to different prisons.
As it turns out, the trailer answers some of the burning questions we had from Season 5. Apparently, some of the inmates do get transferred over to a maximum security prison–which, of course, is way harsher than the playground that was Litchfield. The trailer shows Red, Gloria, Nicky, Black Cindy, Suzanne “Crazy Eyes”, Lorna, and Piper all being photographed for their transfer to a maximum security prison.
As the trailer continues, we see more and more familiar faces in the prison, along with some new ones. Crazy Eyes brings up the drama that goes on within the new prison based on the color uniform you’ve been given, as Piper claims “blues and khakis have beef, but pinks are safe.”
There also seems to be an investigation going on, as Red says in the trailer that the guards and authorities are trying to “crack them” and want them to go down for the crimes even if they didn’t do it. There’s a board that separates those who are being investigated for Poussey’s murder and those who are being investigated for causing the riot. From the clip, it seems as though Frieda, Daya, and Black Cindy are on the list of murder suspects, and Nicky, Flores, and Mendoza are on the list as riot leaders.
Many people are curious and wondering where Alex is in the new season, as she hasn’t been seen in the new trailer once. Twitter was quick to point out that Maritza was also missing from the Season 6 trailer, too.
Some fans are already wondering if the trailer is a foreshadow that Alex wasn’t placed in the same max prison as the rest of the inmates, leaving Piper alone and scared.
Last month, the official OITNB Twitter account shared the new opening credits that will be released with the new season. Any fan of the show will notice that in between the familiar faces, there are brand new set locations–which is most likely the max prison the inmates are transferred to.
