Daredevil has been cancelled by Netflix. The flagship show of the Marvel television universe ran for three seasons and was widely lauded for its performances, tone, and writing.

Netflix released this statement…

“Although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note.”

The stars of Daredevil shared their reactions on Twitter.

This is the latest in a string of cancellations of TV shows within Marvel’s television universe. Earlier this year, Netflix cancelled Iron Fist and Luke Cage as well. The only two currently left standing are Jessica Jones and The Punisher. As all of these shows are intertwined, it certainly seems that the latter two may be in danger of cancellation as well.

People were disappointed.

Some blamed Disney buying up all the Marvel characters.

Many felt that now that Daredevil was cancelled, there was no reason to keep their Netflix subscription.

And most were simply flabbergasted.

No word yet on whether Disney’s yet to be launched new streaming service will pick up the show.
