TIFU is a subReddit that is for posts with the underlying theme of “Today I F’d Up”.

According to their page:

“Today I F’d Up is a community for the dumbass in all of us. We all have those moments where we do something ridiculously stupid. Let us make each other feel better about ourselves. Come and check it out!”

Their description continues by explaining why fellow Redditors should join their community.

“Why you should join us: It’s funny, interesting, cringe-worthy, laugh-causing, smile-inducing, feel-good, ridiculous, humor, humorous, humerus, stupid, cool, awesome, but mostly because it’s the best community on reddit.”

Redditor _Gngrsnp_ found solace in TIFU when she made the humiliating mistake of leaving her vibrator out.

Oh, and she’s a mom.

For those who can’t stand to read the entire cringe-worthy tale, the OP includes a TL;DR.

“TL;DR left vibrator in bathroom. Kid found. Kid returned. Kid is now silently judging me. I’m moving off planet.”

The horror is real.

“She made direct, unbroken, eye contact. She has asserted dominance and owns you now. Sorry,op.” swampler22 (Reddit)

Many identified with _Gngrsnp_’s humiliation.

“It happens. Had a glow in the dark vibrator about 20 years ago, kept it under my bed. My then three year old son walked into the kitchen with it one day. ‘Hey, Mom! I found an electric toothbrush!’ Hoping that one isn’t seared into his memory.” AndeeCreative (Reddit)

“My husband left one of our butt plugs out on his nightstand by accident. Our 8 year old thought it was an led candle (?) and picked it up. I have never grabbed anything so fast in my life.”MasoKist (Reddit)

“Im living in my parents basement apartment. A few months ago a cheap, supposedly ‘waterproof’ vibrator. After using it once in the shower, it would turn on and off on its own.”

“One time it was laying on the floor in my bedroom and turned on, knocking against the wall. My parents in their bedroom, right above mine, could hear the loud vibrating through the wall.”

“My mom called me panicking, thinking there were rats in the walls. Im never telling her it was my vibrator… yikes.”greenmonster151 (Reddit)

“Lol, I recall my three-year old running from a bathroom with a cheerful cry ‘I’ve found a glass sword!'”UVVmail (Reddit)

“I’m a single dad of three. Wife (deceased) had a large blue dildo. It was in the bottom drawer of the en-suite cabinet.”

“Opened the drawer one day looking for something else, I noticed it wasn’t there, thought I must have finally tossed it in the bin. A few days later three kids are playing loudly in their room. Go to tell them to be quiet. 4yo (youngest) has a ‘new light sabre’. I’m mortified.” – Anijealou (Reddit)

The story also brought up some suppressed memories from some readers’ childhoods.

“Every time I read stories like this, I regretfully remember finding my mom’s Hitachi wand when I was a kid, probably around 8ish. Didn’t know what it was until several years later.”

“I was sitting in her room with the dogs and found the wand under her bed. Didn’t know what it was. Picked it up and turned it on and proceeded to chase the dogs with it while my parents sat there laughing at me. shudders” – Parkwaydrive23 (Reddit)

“On a slight tangent, but once we found my dad’s partners big pink dildo while we were looking for a spare set of keys (they kept small odds and ends in the sock drawer). My brother is basically satan, called on our step-brother and smacked him in the face with the dildo when he walked into the room.”Vectorman1989 (Reddit)

Some feel as though the stepdaughter’s discovery could be a good thing in the long run.

“Opportunity to have a “safe and healthy sexual relationship with yourself” conversation! Throw in some birds and the bees and bam, revenge convo full of cringe for her.”fragglerawks (Reddit)

“Honestly, this is probably a good thing, long term, all things considered. Could make her more willing to speak with you about when she starts becoming sexually active now that she knows you aren’t too much of a prude.” – NoTFTLight (Reddit)

“Good chance to destigmatize sex for the kid.”Zeshicage85 (Reddit)

Perhaps the humiliating incident can be a learning opportunity for the family, however, the embarrassment of the entire situation is so real and tangible.
