C-SPAN Host Has Zero Time For On-Air Caller’s Racist Rhetoric About Black Lives Matter In Viral Video

When it comes to dealing with racists on the air, C-SPAN host Bill Scanlan has no time for it.

During the viewer’s call segment on Wednesday’s Washington Journal, a perturbed caller railed against the media, presidential nominee Joe Biden, and Black Lives Matter movement protesters.

The caller insinuated that as a “general American White guy,” supporters of President Donald Trump work harder than other Americans and don’t have time to protest and “would never protest.”

He continued:

“But the natural reaction of all this, you would be denatured and not even a human being if you didn’t begin to have natural anger and want to fight back.”

“Black people seem to think that Whites are supposed to have this long-suffering and patience and just put up with this.”

However, his next line was cut short.

“White people are going to wake up these days…”

The caller never got the chance to finish his prediction because Scanlan pulled the plug and interrupted him, saying:

β€œI’m going to let you go there and go to Thomas.”

People commented on the absurdity of the caller’s rant and on his hypocrisy of being too busy to work but not busy enough to harass C-SPAN.

The caller’s babble was identified for what it was.

It appeared Scanlan took note after former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart criticized him for shuffling papers on his desk instead of actively challenging a racist caller who slammed C-SPAN in 2010.

A caller from North Carolina told Scanlan at the time:

“You have black folks calling in on the Republican line, independents…and you have so many of them. I cannot believe this is just an accident.”

β€œIf you keep on with the way you have been programming you should change your name from C-SPAN to BLACK-SPAN.”

You can watch Scanlan’s non-response from the 2010 on-air incident in the video below.

After a clip of the awkward situation went viral, Stewart demonstrated how he would have reacted with this scripted response.

“If you keep on with the way you have been programming you should change your name from C-SPAN to BLACK-SPAN.”

“Yeah, I’m going to cut you off right there. Go f’k yourself.”

Scanlan may not have dropped an F-bomb with his latest exchange from Wednesday’s show, but he clearly demonstrated that when it comes to dealing with racist rants on his program, he now has zero F’s to give.
