Ohio 13-Year-Old Murdered Girl Because He Mistakenly Thought He Got Her Pregnant

A 14 year-old boy admitted to murdering 14-year-old Sylvia McGee of Canton, Ohio.

His motive?

He wrongly thought she was pregnant with his child.

The shooter—whose name isn’t being released here due to his age—appeared in juvenile court and plead guilty to shooting McGee in the head a block from her home.

Assistant Prosecutor Michelle Cordova noted even though an autopsy of McGee revealed she was not pregnant, no other motive for her murder could be seen.

“That is what I believe got this whole thing started…There was no evidence of any other reason for this.”

Because the shooter was 13 at the time of the murder, under Ohio law he cannot be charged or tried as an adult.

The Canton Repository reported the shooter was not McGee’s boyfriend.

Stark County Prosecutor John Ferrero believed, based on the evidence, McGee was shot execution-style.

The shooter struck a plea deal.

It reduced his “aggravated murder” charge to simply “murder.”

He will remain in juvenile prison until the age of 21.

At that point a Stark County Family Court Judge will determine whether he will be moved to an adult prison for another 18 years to life.

A now deactivated GoFundMe hoped to raise money for McGee’s funeral in March when she was murdered.

It brought in almost $5,000.

On it, McGee’s mother wrote:

“My poor baby was murdered in cold blood. Her life was taken senselessly.”

“She was only 14 years old. She was murdered behind her own home.”
