Amber Heard Uses Topless Jason Momoa Pic To Call Out Instagram’s Sexist Nudity Guidelines

Aquaman star Amber Heard is done with sexist policies on Instagram and other social media.

Last month, Heard posted a photo from a magazine photo shoot to her Instagram account.

Except in her version, there was no heart emoji covering her nipple.

The image was promptly removed by Instagram for violation of its nudity guidelines.

Here is the censored version.

Heard, outraged at the double standard she was being subjected to, posted the same image again, but with Aquaman co-star Jason Momoa’s face (and nipple) photoshopped onto her own.

This time, the photo was deemed acceptable by Instagram.

Heard wrote in the caption:

“In honor of IGs rigorous and equitable Community Guidelines against showing the Female nipple ..and since mine enjoyed the brief privilege that’s afforded to my male counterparts.. I decided to pay homage by replacing it with a picture that DID meet IG’s strict nudity guidelines and such careful gender policies.”

“See my stories to vote on which edit you prefer the most ..and thank you IG, here’s to 2019!”

The star then let fans vote on which photo they preferred and spread the hashtag #FreeTheNipple.

In the Instagram comments, Heard apologized to Momoa with a tongue in cheek.

“Love you AquaHubbs! Sorry to use your pecs to make a point!”

Meanwhile, many people on social media were rallying behind Heard, believing she made a good point.

#FreeTheNipple has the ring of a classic hashtag.

If men can show their nipples in public, there’s no reason women should not be able to as well. It’s time online platforms like Instagram stop enforcing clear double standards like this one.

Breasts are not genitals.
