On Thursday, February 7, 24-year-old Kyle Yorlets was shot and killed in front of his home in Nashville, Tennessee, by five juveniles, aged 12-16.
Local authorities report that the five children, three girls and two boys who were 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 years old, respectively, were driving a “stolen red Chevrolet Colorado” when they came upon Yorlets outside his house in Clifton.
The youths took Yorlet’s wallet and demanded that he give them his car.
So sad. God bless his family. Those children...SMH shame on them and the adults that were responsible for rearing them; they have no regard for human life. Praying for all impacted by this.— Andrea Monique (@AndreaMonique07) February 8, 2019
Yorlets refused to give the children his car, at which point they shot him, according to the police.

Yorlets made it back inside his house, where a roommate found him and took him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He was shortly thereafter pronounced dead.
Round up the parents. They should be charged with felony child neglect.— BearingGirl (@bearinggirl) February 9, 2019
That same evening, police tracked the stolen vehicle to a “West Nashville Walmart” where officers arrested all five children and confiscated two guns which they had also stolen (one of which had been used to kill Yorlets).
All five of the youths now face charges of criminal homicide.
What type of household did these kids grow up in? This is so disturbing to know that there minds were into criminal activity instead of books an getting a education. A lesson to be learned today is: ONE wrong decision can alter your life FOREVER.— Carol W (@cece4fascion) February 9, 2019
Social media is stunned and shocked by this pointless waste of life.
Wow. How sad and what a waste.— valerie morrison (@natural717) February 9, 2019
So sad. Kyle Yorlets' friend Amirah Tayyun shares profound words for the five juveniles accused of killing Kyle. The youngest of the three girls and two boys is just 12 years old. Memories of Kyle's life on @FOXNashville at 9. pic.twitter.com/z6qbq9MAZl— Alex Apple (@AlexApple_) February 9, 2019
Society failed Kyle. These kids feel through the cracks because of a system that doesn’t care for mid and lower income. Had these kids been in school would this happen. RIP,Kyle.— Tee Jay Bee (@tomjbrenner) February 10, 2019
Peace for the family lost of their son.😇— SaWiBeJo56 (@jujeo56) February 9, 2019
Since they murdered someone in cold blood, they all should be charged as adult.— Queena (@QueenaKwok) February 9, 2019
Yorlets’s band, Carverton, released a statement regarding his passing on Facebook:
“On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend, and bandmate Kyle Yorlets. We are in a state of shock and are having to grasp the reality that is now in front of us. We are heartbroken. Our condolences for his family and loved ones and all the lives that he touched. We will never forget Kyle, and though he is gone too soon his legacy is here to stay.”
RIP Kyle, you will not be forgotten.
