Here’s a joke: Why did the snake cross the road? To terrify the world.
Traffic in Manaus, Brazil, came to a standstill when a massive serpent slithered out into the street, forcing cars to stop. The anaconda was roughly 11.5 feet long and took its sweet sweet time making it from one side of the street to the next. I guess when you’re as big as this snake, you don’t have to worry about things like common courtesy.
Twitter users could empathize.
Ran into some animals blocking the streets of my neighborhood! Encountered a 1ft 4-5 in snake?, crossing the street, disappearing into someone's bush?! Was super poisonous water moccasin or a non-toxic rat snake, and was pretty defensive. Also saw a turtle in the street?! pic.twitter.com/QrlJqT2lv8

Wow! Great video. You're lucky to have such an exciting encounter.
Thanks for looking out for while they got to safety!

Lovely Coastal Carpet Python (Morelia Spilota) crossing our street tonight. Be careful not to run them over, a vital part of the ecosystem. pic.twitter.com/QAf1msaKkZ

To capture these videos, the photographers had to be brave.
You sounded so cool in that video.

This was their home before it was ours!
always remember, the snake is not crossing the road, the road is crossing the jungle.

Having this snake so close to traffic likely caused some problems.
I just ran into a parked car while running from a giant snake, but how’s your night going?

Unless you’re looking for a tight squeeze, that is.
And here I am craving a bone-breaking hug from an Anaconda!

Perhaps the snake simply learned by watching some of these other animals.
Nothing like almost running over cows that are crossing the street BY THEMSELVES pic.twitter.com/tBcYD0IDbw

But even the snake wasn’t as slow as this relaxed mammal!

Perhaps these crossings could use a soundtrack…
