When it comes to their children, all parents can be a little bit irrational, but some mothers and fathers take things to the next level. Reddit user pretent_its_witty, who teaches children how to swim for free on occasion, had an incredibly memorable interaction with one such mother.
Things got out of hand so quickly that pretent_its_witty felt she had to share the entire text conversation with Reddit:
Things start off relatively benign, if not a bit forward. But the conversation quickly takes on a fairly demanding tone…
pretent_its_witty keeps a cool head through the entire ordeal.
The parent seemed to think it was pretent_its_witty‘s responsibility to make things right…for free!
That’s when the parent sprung the news that her child needed special attention.
Eventually, pretent_its_witty stopped responding, but the parent continued to send increasingly unhinged messages, even threatening to throw her own child in the pool to try and guilt pretent_its_witty into giving the lessons.
Hopefully, in the end, the parent realized the lessons were DEFINITELY not happening.
“‘I will throw him into the pool at 1 and if something happens to him you’re responsible.’ Mother of the year!”
“LOL ‘actually, charge everyone else and free for only me and give me the money’ 😂What will you do if her and her kid show up to your class with the other kids?”
“Please don’t take on this client. If she is willing to be this rude trying to get her son into class, imagine how it will be with him in it. She will be water side looking over your shoulder every second. She will come up to you after every class and state that you didn’t give her son equal time and demand you stay later. If her son looks to be struggling she will demand your attention be placed on him instead of the other ‘brats’.”
“You should totally forward this to the person that gave her your number. So she can’t lie and complain to the other parents about you. And so that you can use this to ask all the parents that if they wish to forward someone to you, that they cannot give out your number, but can give you the number of the person instead.”
“The correct reaction is to ask for her name and her kid’s name, and then tell her they are both banned from your classes.”
“I promise…y’all are the nicest folks ever to continue these conversations. WAY too nice. Maybe that’s why I’ll never have a convo to post on here. Someone hit me with that and it’s a done deal…I’m muting/blocking/taking my time.”
If there’s any justice in the world, this incredibly entitled mother will have to pay big bucks for swim lessons from a professional. Maybe that will show her how far being rude can’t get her!
