After Heartbreak, Michigan Police Force Gets A New Kitten Mascot—And She’s Adorable ?

Troy, Michigan is a suburb of Detroit that boasts a historic village, a water park, a game park, and a pawfficer. Yes, you read that right, a pawfficer. This is a comfort cat for the Troy Police Department who is hand-selected by the Michigan Humane Society. There’s a swearing in ceremony and everything! A new pawfficer named pawfficer Badges was set to be sworn in on May 10th.

Unfortunately, there was this development…

Luckily, the cat was still placed with a loving home…

But a pawfficer still had to be chosen…

The interview process was very thorough…

They had to make sure the cats were properly trained…

And finally, a new selection was made…

And on May 11th…

Photos of the swearing in were joyful…

And the Troy Police Department decided to repay the Michigan Humane Society with a fundraiser…

Naturally, people were sucked in by the adorableness…

And others offered their congratulations and well wishes for pawfficer Badges to make a speedy health recovery…

Yes! Best of luck to pawfficer Donut.
