Oprah’s New Favorite Thing Is This Restaurant Chain And She’s Putting Her Money Where Her Mouth Is

Almost all of us have heard the phrase “let your food be your medicine, and let your medicine be your food”  – or some version close to that. The idea that eating or avoiding certain foods can help us lead healthier lives is one that people have understood for a long time. We know we should eat healthy, but we’d all be liars if we said we’ve never skipped healthy for convenient.

Or that we’ve never had a healthier option available and just done this:

Oprah believes if we had options that were both healthy and convenient, we may choose them a bit more often. So she’s investing in a restaurant chain that aims to do just that. True Food Kitchen serves meals inspired by the work of Dr. Andrew Weil, who has found that some foods cause inflammation in our bodies, in areas like our joints or digestive tracts. Similarly, other foods reduce that inflammation, making us feel better and helping our bodies work more smoothly.

Oprah Winfrey, who has never invested in a restaurant before, had one meal at True Food Kitchen and it made her feel like:

“When I first dined at True Food Kitchen, I was so impressed with the team’s passion for healthy eating and, of course, the delicious food, that I knew I wanted to be part of the company’s future.”– Oprah

So what do you need to know about True Food Kitchen? Here are some great nuggets we found out:

The casual eatery has locations in ten states, with more locations already hiring for launch!

It’s not fast-food cheap, but don’t expect it to break the bank either. Just because Oprah is backing it doesn’t mean it’s overly fancy or pretentious, you’re fine in your yoga pants at most locations.

Speaking of yoga pants, several locations actually host yoga classes in the mornings before they open for diners!

The menu features vegan, vegetarian, gluten-friendly options alongside their standard fare; and it’s all clearly labeled for you.

Oprah’s investing more than just her money, she’s also giving her time and input to the project by joining the Board of Directors.

Twitter is excited about it!

Erica is the consummate cool-kid. She’s so cool that she’s been talked about in magazines, on blogs and on the radio after losing her left eye because of a piece of glitter. She is still actively mourning the passing of Prince and hopes to one day do an all-iguana remake of Graffiti Bridge since iguanas are plentiful near her home in South Florida. She has yet to find one that can really nail the “ahhhyayayeaheaheah” that Tevin Campbell does in Round and Round, and everyone knows the music is the important part of any Prince film. She’s a mother, singer, writer and (if the internet is to be believed - which we all know it is) a Nigerian socialite mid-ranking member of the Illuminati. She prides herself on being the most popular one-eyed rock star under 5 ft tall in pretty much any room she walks into.
