“Bringing a knife to a gun fight” may be a phrase describing a lack of preparation, but when this situation unfolded quite literally at a jewelry store in Mississauga, Ontario, the owners were anything but ill-prepared.
The surveillance videos show four burglars smashing the jewelry stores front window. It’s then that the owner, his son and brother swing into action, with each brandishing their blades at the intruders, who back off before they can even get through the window.
While many would freeze up in this situation, the owner says he and his family were determined to protect their store. Despite at least one of the thieves appearing to have a gun, they quickly retreated once three blades were reflecting back their own fear.
Twitter had one word for these store workers: badass.
Their first mistake was choosing to try and rob Ninja Jewellers.— mark henick (@markhenick) November 22, 2018

Good for them. Now somehow they’ll get charged for using the swords to defend their property.— RealDebacle (@RealDebacle) November 22, 2018
Of course, people also had jokes in spades.
Being Canadian they yelled “Sword-y buddy, but we’re closed!”— Bryan (@BryanSpoon79) November 22, 2018
Oh which reminds me, I can't wait for the last season of Game of Thrones— Carl Afable (@CarlAfableLA) November 23, 2018
Though it appears the would-be robbers did escape—with all their limbs still attached—the jewelry store owners remained safe as well, losing nothing but the window.
Hopefully no thieves will be stupid enough to mess with them again.
