Trump Is Once Again Threatening To Shut Down The Government Over Border Wall Funding

President Donald Trump is once again threatening to hold the government hostage in order to fund the border wall that was a hallmark of his campaign platform.

The President made similar threats earlier this year when a shutdown loomed, but house representatives avoided it by passing a stopgap motion. Now, funding expires September 30 and Trump seems as determined as ever.

This contradicted statements Trump made during Obama’s tenure as President when the House shut down the government over the Affordable Care Act in 2013.

At the time Trump said:

Well, if you say who gets fired it always has to be the top. I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president’s the leader. And heÂ’s got to get everybody in a room and heÂ’s got to lead.

The internet was quick to call him out.

Many called him hypocritical.

The American public will have to wait until September to learn if Trump is huffing and puffing, or if he’ll actually force the government against a wall—or, rather, in support of a wall.
