Flight Attendant Fired After Video Of Boyfriend’s Mid-Flight Marriage Proposal Goes Viral

When they go as planned, grand romantic proposals can be amazing, but for a Chinese flight attendant, her fairy tale moment ended up costing her a job.

In a video posted back in May, a flight attendant for Chinese Eastern Airlines received a mid-air proposal from her boyfriend. As the onlooking passengers cheered the romantic gesture, the flight attendant got on the inflight announcement system to thank them all for being there.

“I really didn’t know my boyfriend will be proposing to me on this flight, thanks for being my witnesses.”

Once posted, the touching moment went viral.

Unfortunately for the newly engaged couple, the airline wasn’t as touched by the proposal as everyone else.

According to a report from Singapore’s Channel 8, the company fired the flight attendant, calling the mid-air proposal “extremely irresponsible” saying the “private romantic behavior caused turmoil among passengers.”

News of the firing set off a whole new wave of reactions.

Many seemed devastated that the airline had ruined the couple’s fairytale ending.

Others, however, sided with the airline, agreeing that 30,000 feet up is not the time or the place for distractions.

No matter what side you’re on, it seems like the bad press for the airline was more than they expected.

Although the dismissal may have been a sour end to an otherwise beautiful moment maybe it was for the best.
