A woman was caught on video throwing a massive racist tantrum in public, which led to an incredibly racist rant. The video then went viral across the internet.
The incident, initially posted by Steven J on Instagram, shows the racist woman getting upset on the Light Rail in Tempe, Arizona. They started recording just before she started her racist rant.
And it’s lucky they did.
Steven J explains their post, saying:
“So something happened on the way to work today.”
“I was sitting there and just happened to catch it all on camera because I didn’t know what was going to happen and this woman decided to disrespect someone doing their job and me.”
“I’m not looking for sympathy I just want everyone to realize racist and ignorant people are everywhere and this could’ve happened to anyone. So keep your eyes open and say something!”
On the Valley Metro train, a security officer comes around and is checking people’s passes to see if they’re valid. When he gets to our Karen in the video, he finds her pass is invalid and lets her know she’ll need to get off at the next stop and get a valid one.
Then the video starts, and we hear the woman complain about having to wait 20 minutes for the next train. This is frustrating but understandable, especially in the Phoenix metro area where temperatures regularly get above 100 degrees.
But things very quickly turn sour, with the woman yelling that the Black security guard needs to get an education.
He responds by saying he has one, which only seems to further enrage the woman.
She screams back:
“No you don’t, or you wouldn’t be working for ten dollars an hour for the bus company, you n******!”
And that is where people online lost any sympathy they might have had for her.

Steven J can’t let the woman’s racist tantrum stand. They speak up, telling the woman that you do not do that. She responds by calling them the same racist slur.
At this point, she mistakes Steven’s shirt for an Arizona State University shirt and goes off on a rant about how much the school sucks. She claims she’s attended Stanford and UC Berkeley and speaks nine languages.
She then picks a fight with another passenger, claiming they sneezed, and the whole thing devolves into a mess.
The video went viral, eventually ending up on a Reddit board that shames and criticizes “Karens.”
And the people there did not care for her racist tantrum.
“Wooooooah not cool. I seldom wish ill for people but may her next shite be a hedgehog.” – pandastealer
“That security guard had a lot of self control.” – stoatymcstoatface
“That’s called professionalism. If everyone practiced it, the world would be a better place.” – TheSpatulaOfLove
“She sounds like she’s on the verge of tears the entire time” – OathofDruids25
“Good. Her life is miserable because of her own actions.” – ronytheronin
The video ends with the train pulling into a stop, where the security guard quickly escorts the woman off. And, as a final parting shot, she repeats the racist slur again before exiting.
Steven J ends their post by explaining why they spoke up and posted this video, despite not liking confrontation:
“I’m sorry I don’t care who it is or what they look like YOU WILL NOT DISRESPECT ANOTHER HUMAN BEING AROUND ME! POINT BLANK PERIOD! ESPECIALLY A PERSON OF COLOR!”
“I’m really happy the he didn’t stand for her s*** and kicked her off at the next available stop.”
“SPEAK UP AND LET THESE IGNORANT A** PEOPLE KNOW THEY ARE WRONG AND NEED TO CHANGE!”
And they’re right. If we never confront racists, they will continue to push their own deadly agenda.
And even if our words and actions don’t get through to the person we’re confronting, it at least shows others we do not tolerate this from anyone.
