A white Mississippi Campground Manager who pulled a gun on a young black couple picnicking beside a lake has been fired, says Kampgrounds of America.
While Jessica Richardson and her husband Franklin, who had just returned from a 9-month deployment in the Middle East, found a place to sit down and picnic on Memorial Day, they were approached by an older white woman who “screamed” at them and pulled a gun.
RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL!! Today was a beautiful day so my husband (who's a vet), our 2 year old dog, and myself, decided to Google a lake to visit and have a picnic. We found a lake located in starkville, ms and decided to visit. Not five mins later a truck pulls up and a white lady screams at us, she then jumps out of her truck with a Gun. And proceeded to point it at the 3 of us, simply because we didnt make reservations. After leaving my husband stopped by the office and talked with her husband (they're the property managers). The husband tells my husband that reservations aren't needed for the lake. This happened In Starkville,MsPosted by Jessica Richardson on Sunday, May 26, 2019

Mississippi is a state with a “stand your ground” law, which was used to defend George Zimmerman’s shooting of Treyvon Martin in 2013.
This situation doesn’t meet the Stand Your Ground criterion, right? Why’d she need the gun? WHATS THE JUSTIFICATION FOR THE GUN? These people get on my last nerve. Ugh! This family handled it beautifully.— Renee Coker (@coker_renee) May 28, 2019
I need to see the corrective action though. This incident further empowers folk that want to do harm. We need to see viral videos of accountability not of the attack. Potential violators need to know that they will be held responsible for their attacks.— TWEETS IZ WATCHIN' (@MercedesBoy) May 29, 2019

Nothing has changed. These Race Soldiers are everywhere. It seems like the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s....— Rashon Graham (@rashonGraham2) May 28, 2019
KOA has about 500 private campgrounds across the country and said it was “reaching out to all of the parties involved” in the incident on Memorial Day.
“Kampgrounds of America prides itself on providing a welcoming, safe environment for everyone to enjoy the outdoors.”
This is horrifying. My husband and I have watched this twice. Truthfully disgusted behavior. The woman speaking and videoing handled the situation well. Grateful she documented this behavior. Got those picnickers in our hearts!— Kathy koseruba (@KoserubaKathy) May 28, 2019

It's a public park. The actions of the property manager should be reported. Lynn Spruill, Mayor— Sheila Deskins (@sldeskins) May 28, 2019

She got fired! And they should sue the crap out of that group and rename the lake— FootballWookie (@FootballWookie) May 29, 2019

With black people being disproportionately killed by police, what is the solution when a white person approaches them with a gun drawn?
