In light of the recent government shutdown, which has lasted 16 days and is currently tied for the third longest on record with no foreseeable end, the American people’s opinion of President Trump is dropping by the second.
The phenomenon of flipping off Trump Tower on social media will likely gain a lot of traction during this time:

And our Indian Agent @smithsoniannmai NYC show is officially canceled... We will be back. Fuck this wall. "I’m sorry to report that because of the government shutdown, the last day the Smithsonian Institution was able to keep open was yesterday. We are now in full shutdown mode, which means the closing concert with Indian Agent on January 5th is cancelled. "
But a new, more creative way to stick it to Trump Tower may be surfacing online.
Activists on the website MoveOn have begun a petition to change the name of the stretch of 5th Avenue in Manhattan directly in front of Trump Tower to “President Barack H. Obama Avenue,” which would make the address of Trump Tower to 725 President Barack H. Obama Avenue.
I wonder if a non-NY resident can sign this? It's a petition to rename 5th Avenue in front of Trump Tower to "PRESIDENT BARACK H. OBAMA AVENUE"— RESIST & IMPEACH (@MelMan89693597) January 4, 2019

We request the stretch of Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets be renamed "President Barack H. Obama Avenue." Any addresses on that stretch of Fifth Avenue should be changed accordingly.https://t.co/N4q6oTV5pM— Ben Spannaus (@benji_the_dogg) January 4, 2019
725 President Barack H. Obama Avenue, address for Trump Tower https://t.co/K5qSmJZR7X— bob allen (@arejay52) January 4, 2019
“The City of Los Angeles recently honored former President Barack Obama by renaming a stretch of the 134 Freeway near Downtown L.A. in his honor,” the petition begins, referring to the recent renaming of a stretch of California State Route 134, which runs from the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles to Interstate 210 in Pasadena.
The petition continues:
“We request the New York City Mayor and City Council do the same by renaming a block of Fifth Avenue after the former president whose many accomplishments include: saving our nation from the Great Recession; serving two completely scandal-free terms in office; and taking out Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind September 11th, which killed over 3,000 New Yorkers.”
Not surprisingly, many people are on board:

The petition has already received over 15,000 signatures — just shy of its goal of 20,000. If the plan moves forward, NYC mayor Bill De Blasio will have to give the go ahead.
