Virginia Little Caesars Fires Employee For Printing Out Homophobic Receipt

Caesar would never have stood for this poor customer service.

Actually, “poor customer service” is being kind: cousins Rosman Harris and Marcus Robertson were given an unpleasant surprise by a Little Caesar’s employee who decided to harass them “because of their behavior.”

The cashier printed out their receipt with the word “gay” on it.

The two men say they were “baffled.”

Tina Orozco, the communications director for Little Caesar’s, says the incident was investigated by the franchise owner, and the employee in question has been fired.

However, her statement is shockingly devoid of any sort of apology.

Both men identify as gay, but that’s not the information you typically disclose when ordering a pizza.

When they approached the manager immediately after the incident, WRTV reports that they “never got an answer about why this was done.”

A few days after, another cousin went back to talk to the cashier.

“[The cashier] said, ‘Well, oh, he was being loud, he was being rude,’” said Robertson.

Robertson wears a hearing aid, so their other cousin jumped in with “No, he wasn’t being loud or rude. He’s hearing impaired, so when he talked loud that’s for him to hear himself speak.”

“Little Caesars maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any violations of professional conduct,” reiterated Orozco to the Huffington Post.

The current political climate is not helpful in times like this.

Just last week, West Virginia lawmaker Eric Porterfield compared LGBTQ+ activists to the KKK, and implied he would drown his children if they turned out to be gay.

This kind of behavior needs to stop being encouraged by lawmakers.  In fact, the opposite needs to happen.

And then, perhaps, cashiers at Little Caesar’s won’t feel so emboldened to harass their customers.
