Mike Adams, a University Of North Carolina-Wilmington Professor—whose biggest claim to fame was trolling the world on Twitter with content better suited to 4chan—was found dead in his home on Thursday.
UNC-Wilmington was in the process of forcing Adams to retire from his job at the university over racist, homophobic, and misogynistic remarks made via Twitter.
Some of those tweets include:
When you write the university asking them to fire me don’t forget to leave a mailing address so I can send you a box of panty liners.

The Democrats abort their own children. That’s why they indoctrinate yours. They have no other legacy.

Barack Obama is a criminal who makes Richard Nixon almost appear to be a decent human being. And that is saying something from someone like me who believes Obama and Nixon were among our eight worst presidents – four of which are Republicans, and four of which are Democrats, IMO.

Adams was to be paid $500,000 as part of an early retirement settlement with the university.
Adams’ death was reportedly “suspicious” and is under investigation, but no information was immediately available.
Conservative professor Mike Adams was found dead in his home yesterday.
In the past several weeks, cancel culture came for him and the mob demanded he be fired. UNC Wilmington came to an agreement for $500,000. He was supposed to retire on August 1st.https://t.co/lH6IPuyjBb

Anti-Black professor Mike Adams, who would tweet vile anti-Black rhetoric regularly, and he would trivialize Black deaths by deflecting into abortion discussions, was found dead in his home yesterday.#Ogun#NoAntiBlackRacism pic.twitter.com/oepEriMMjr

I’m not a believer and disagreed with Mike Adams on many issues of both policy and morality. But to see people cheering the man’s death (including some of my own friends and family) because they don’t like his politics is so disheartening. Good piece by David. https://t.co/SzFUVDb76m

I have previously written about Professor Mike Adams and the efforts to get him fired for controversial comments. https://t.co/TkhT0qGAZ3 Adams was found dead today in this home after he was pushed to retire at age 55. The cause of death is not reported.https://t.co/NnwUNhjgKW

Please do mourn Mike Adams’s death, but don’t sugarcoat his rhetoric as merely “controversial” or “racially charged.” He was blatantly racist, homophobic, and sexist, and his own words left no room for interpretation on any of that.

Some of Adams’ more explicitly hateful tweets read:
“Don’t shut down the universities. Shut down the non essential majors. Like Women’s Studies.”
“This evening I ate pizza and drank beer with six guys at a six seat table top. I almost felt like a free man who was not living in the slave state of North Carolina.”
“Massa Cooper, let my people go!”
Adams’ death brings up complex feelings for many on-lookers.
Yea I’m conflicted. I don’t wish death on anyone but definitely realize that’s 1 less voice spouting terrible ideas

Very true. No one wishes bad to happen to people, even bad ones like Adams. But, the fact that UNCW was willing to spend $500K to get rid of him shows what a toxic person he was!

Nah man, there's almost 7 billion people on Earth. We don't have to mourn the ones that lived their lives expressly trying to make some people's lives worse. pic.twitter.com/cas816zmzl

Mike Adams was an abusive, mean spirited person who treated his professorship as a vehicle to stir up controversy and bring lawsuits aganist his institution. He directly targeted students forcing some to leave UNCW. (1/2) https://t.co/tfAsQ4wm1r

I wish his family and friends well, and they can take comfort in the many conservatives who admired him. These fans will no doubt write glowing memorials of Adams today but his legacy is far from positive. Instead of being an educator he chose to be a demagogue.(2/2)

UNCW announced the news.
“It is with sadness that we share the news that the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation involving Dr. Mike Adams, professor of criminology,” the university said in a statement.
“Please keep his friends and loved ones in your thoughts.”
