Unlike his predecessors, Pope Francis is known for challenging Catholic teachings with his liberal views and causing a stir on social media.

An example of this was when the pontiff recently called for civil union laws to legally protect same-sex couples.

But a recent activity on the Pope’s official Instagram account has raised eyebrows online and left many wondering if it was deliberate.

Yes, the papacy has his own verified Instagram page under the handle, @franciscus, and he just liked an NSFW photo of Brazilian model Natalie Garibotto.

The 27-year-old model populates her page with suggestive images of herself – often clad in a bikini – and receives many comments and likes from googly-eyed admirers on her Insta.

One thing Garibotto did not expect while going through her feed was seeing that His Holiness had double-tapped on her photo from October 5 in which she donned a schoolgirl outfit.

The racy pic, liked by over 140k followers to date, was captioned with:

“I can teach you a thing or two. Can’t wait for you guys to see my October shoot on my site.”

Whoever was in charge of the Pope’s verified account appeared to have inadvertently “liked” the saucy image of the model showing off her luscious curves in front of a school locker.

But whether the gaffe was intentional or not, it didn’t exactly slip under the radar.

In a followup post, the model – who has over two million followers on Instagram –  referenced her papal seal of approval and wrote:

“On this very day I was blessed, you could be too.”

The post has since been “unliked” by the Pope’s account.

But that did not stop her from going onto Twitter, where she jokingly bragged about her pre-approved access through the pearly gates.

Flabbergasted followers continued commenting on her infamous Instagram post.

After Barstool Sports initially alerted Garibotto of the Vatican’s fortuitous blessing, Garibotto quipped:

“My mum may hate my a** pics but the pope be double-tapping.”
