MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki Hilariously Opens Up About Accidentally Drawing A Penis On The Election Map

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon/YouTube

Among the heroes who have emerged during this seemingly interminable Election Night that has become Election Week, is MSNBC’s resident electoral map analyst Steve Kornacki.

His unflagging stamina in front of the network’s giant results touchscreen—for upwards of 18 hours a day this week—and enthusiasm for numbers has been contagious among many on the internet. And an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night has people loving him even more.

Kornacki told host Jimmy Fallon about a hilarious mishap in 2016 when he accidentally drew a penis on the election map, and it’s left the internet giggling.

The now famous (or infamous?) moment happened during a report on the 2016 presidential primaries.

While drawing on the touchscreen to illustrate a point about the primaries in the state of New York, Kornacki’s visual aid took on an undeniably phallic look.

Naturally, Twitter had a field day.

Fallon was among those who were tickled by the drawing back in 2016, featuring it on his show for a funny bit. During his appearance on Wednesday, Kornacki playfully ribbed Fallon for getting him in trouble.

“I gotta tell you Jimmy, I got in trouble on your show because of that telestrator a few years ago because I was drawing on the map and you seemed to think it looked like a part of the reproductive anatomy.”

Fallon jokingly replied:

“We gotta make people laugh, you know? We both have jobs to do!”

Kornacki went on to say that he didn’t even realize he was giving everyone at home a chuckle that night, which just made folks on Twitter love him even more.

People have fallen so in love with Kornacki, in fact, that a hashtag in his honor, #TrackingKornacki, has emerged, and has been trending for days.

Here’s hoping Kornacki gets some much-needed sleep soon. He’s earned it!
