Russell Crowe is famous in Hollywood for having an unpredictable sense of humor. Sure, when John Oliver made a big deal out of purchasing his jock strap, Crowe responded by making a donation to a Koala Chlamydia Ward in Oliver’s name. But Crowe has also been known to pick Twitter fights with opinionated randos and he once got angry at South Park creators Matt Parker and Trey Stone for offering notes on his new album.
ApparentlyĀ Rob Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, wasn’t aware of Crowe’s reputation when he tweeted at the Gladiator actor with what he thought was a harmless joke.
Liefeld told Digital Spy the story:
One night before I went to bed, I didnāt know Russell Crowe was on Twitter, and I stupidly tweeted to Russell Crowe ā not ever thinking heād answer me ā and I go, āHey Russell, you should read for Cable!ā That didnāt turn out very well, I got yelled at a lot, because I woke up ā because heās in Australia ā to Russell Crowe saying, āRead for it?!ā, and my manager said, āYeah⦠Russell Crowe doesnāt read for parts, Rob. You kind of insulted him.ā Iām like, āIām sorry! They just havenāt picked Cable yet so Iām just putting it out there.ā And then my phone rings, so some Fox people may or may not have yelled at me for an hour.
Liefeld doesn’t wieldĀ any power on the Deadpool movies, so this scenario was clearly in jest, but that’s never stopped Crowe from getting angry on Twitter before:
He had an explosive reaction, as documented by The Daily Dot.
Perhaps Liefeld should be the one offended, considering how little respect his work gets:

Oh, how we used to laugh at that weirdly-proportioned drawing of Captain America by Rob Liefield! Well, laugh no more. pic.twitter.com/lifpEyoK
