MTV Is Planning A ‘Daria’ Reboot, And The World Is So Ready For It

Gen Xers, prepare yourselves for some exciting news: MTV has announced a reboot of the beloved ’90s show, Daria.

Tentatively called Daria & Jodie, and with Inside Amy Schumer and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt writer Grace Edwards in the driver’s seat, the reboot is part of MTV’s newly launched MTV Studios, which is also planning reboots of two other ’90s shows: The Real World and a live-action version of Æon Flux.

Here’s MTV’s official description:

“DARIA & JODIE”

The iconic animated franchise is reinvented through the eyes of heroine Daria Morgendorffer and one of her closest friends Jodie Landon. These two smart young women take on the world, with their signature satirical voice while deconstructing popular culture, social classes, gender and race.

Many fans on Twitter were excited by the news:

But some were torn:

And some peeps were against it all together:

Given Daria’s sarcastic nature, it’s hard to tell if these commenters are happy about the reboot or not:

And this is what everyone’s been saying since the ’90s:

How will Daria fare in Trump’s America? We’ll just have to wait for the premiere to find out.

Note: No news yet on whether or not the original series creators Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn will be participating.
