‘L.A.’s Finest’ Showrunner Loses Leg After Stunt Car Crashes During Filming

Brandon Sonnier was severely injured last Thursday when a stunt scene that was being filmed on-location went terribly wrong.

Deadline reports that Sonnier, who is both co-showrunner and executive producer of the crime drama series, was injured when a stunt car went off-course and struck a cargo crate, which proceeded to slide into the area where Sonnier and his co-showrunner Brandon Margolis were watching the filming on monitors.

Both men were rushed to the local hospitals with “serious but non-life threatening injuries,” according to Deadline.

Sonnier’s leg was pinned during the accident. He was injured badly enough that doctors amputated his leg just below the knee, and he is currently still in the hospital.

California Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) has reportedly opened an investigation into the accident and shut down production on Thursday. Officials also canceled for the day following the accident.

Sony Pictures Television’s Jeff Frost and co-presidents Chris Parnell and Jason Clodfelter told deadline:

“Our hearts go out to our SPT family members who were injured and we pray for a full recovery.”

Many people on Twitter are keeping Sonnier in their thoughts and prayers, and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Many also expressed concern for Brandon Margolis

Head of Spectrum Originals Katherine Pope also expressed concern and wished Sonnier and Margolis a speedy recovery:

“We are saddened by this incident and send our most heartfelt wishes to our two beloved crew members, hoping their recovery is both swift and complete.”

L.A.’s Finest is set to premiere on May 13th, 2019.
