All of us have things we like to enjoy in the privacy of our own homes.
For many, it’s not being beholden to wearing clothes, knowing that there is no one else around.
Of course, not everyone has that luxury, as they might live in close proximity to another building, allowing others to view you in all your glory easily.
Reddiitor Professional-Grape24 and their spouse lived in a remote enough area that, every now and then, they could partake in naked activities without being spotted.
In fact, the only one who spotted them doing so accidentally was their child.
While this didn’t seem to be an issue to either the original poster (OP) or their spouse, their friends and family had much stronger opinions when learning of their “immoral” behavior.
Wondering if they had done anything wrong, the OP took to the subReddit “Am I The A**hole” (AITA), where they asked fellow Redditors:
“AITA for using my hot tub naked after dark in my backyard?”
The OP explained how their private indulgence at home ended up riling up their friends and family.
“We live rural.”
“Only two neighbors could foreseeably see my hot tub from their properties and it can’t be seen from the road.”
“Everyone lives on 2ish acre lots, so during the day, it’s close enough to yell ‘hi!’ to my neighbor right next to me, but far enough we’d both have to trek to the middle to carry on a conversation.”
“The other neighbor that can see my backyard is on the other side of the one next to me.”
“The alternate side of our property is wooded.”
“No children live in the house, though my husband and I have a 7-year-old child.”
“The hot tub is a few feet off of the property line that is wooded.”

Everyone agreed that as long as the OP and their spouse were discreet and respectful, then they had every right to do whatever they wanted to in the privacy of their own property, and no one else had any right to have an opinion.

It would be one thing if the OP and their spouse were trying to cause trouble and flaunt themselves to their neighbors.
In this case, however, OP’s friends and family are judging them for the theoretical possibility of being spotted by their neighbors.
Only when a neighbor files a complaint should the OP even think about wearing a swimsuit in their hot tub.
